The police have filed a case related to the incident under sections 285 (negligent conduct concerning fire or combustible matter) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code at the Dwarka South police station.
Five members of a family were injured in Dwarka South, Delhi after a cooking gas cylinder explosion took place at their residence, the police said on Wednesday. The explosion caused a massive fire at the building leaving occupants injured.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the family was celebrating a gathering on the ground floor of their four-story residence in the Palam Vihar locality. Firefighters responded swiftly, dispatching four fire tenders to the scene. After a two-hour battle, they successfully extinguished the flames.
Ram Bharose (72), Satya Narayan (62), Radhe Shyam (48) his wife Chandra (47), and Anil (43) were injured in the incident and hospitalized, police said.
Satya Narayan and Radhe Shyam are currently receiving medical care at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. However, due to severe burn injuries, Ram Bharose, Anil, and Chandra have been transferred to Safdarjung Hospital for specialized treatment.
The preliminary suspicion is that the explosion was triggered by a gas leak from the cylinder. A thorough investigation will determine the precise cause of the incident.
