With great excitement, Seattle University announces a new study scholarship opportunity for Indian students to pursue their Master of Laws (LLM) degree at the esteemed School of Law. The generous gift from the Satya and Rao Remala Family Foundation has allowed for the creation of the Remala Family Scholarship, which will provide a full-tuition scholarship to one meritorious and financially needy student from India each year.
The LLM Program at Seattle U Law offers two options for students to choose from. The LLM in American Legal Studies is designed for foreign-trained lawyers or graduates of non-U.S. law schools who wish to learn about U.S. law and potentially qualify to practice in the United States. The LLM in Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship are geared towards lawyers and recent law graduates who want to specialize in privacy law, cybersecurity, digital commerce, and artificial intelligence.
The Remala Family Fellows will receive financial support for their education and access to academic support and mentorship to ensure their success in the program.
“We are proud to support Seattle University School of Law’s efforts to build a bridge with India and its future law practitioners. The spirit of this scholarship aligns perfectly with our family foundation’s efforts to give aspiring Indian students access to first-rate higher education programs, so they can build better lives for themselves like I was able to do” said Rao Remala, who leads the foundation.
“The Remala Family Scholarship will enable us to attract and teach the next generation of leaders in law from India. The Remala Family Fellows who receive these scholarships in the years to come will benefit from life-changing opportunities here at Seattle U Law to move their careers forward and benefit their communities. In addition, the presence of these outstanding scholars at Seattle University will enhance our intellectual life and deepen our engagement with India, the world’s largest democracy”, said Anthony E. Varona, dean of the law school. “
Sital Kalantry, associate dean of graduate studies and international programs and associate professor of law, added, “The globalized nature of commerce and technology in India means that attorneys need experience handling cross-border legal issues. Students in Seattle U law’s LLM Program gain valuable knowledge and training in these and other issues”.
This is a truly exciting opportunity for Indian students to receive a top-quality education at Seattle University and the support and resources they need to succeed in their studies. The Remala Family Scholarship is a testament to the generosity and commitment of the Satya and Rao Remala Family Foundation, and we are grateful for their support in making this opportunity a reality.
