Pippa Story
Pippa tells the story of three siblings set against the backdrop of the action-packed 48-hour Battle of Garibpur, which was fought on the eastern front of India during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, and was inspired by actual events and the war memoir The Burning Chaffees written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.
The title of Pippa alludes to the famous Russian PT-76 amphibious combat tank that was employed in the conflict. The affectionate moniker “Pippa,” which is Punjabi for an empty “ghee da Dabba” that floats on water, was given to it.
The movie shows a young Mehta becoming an adult as he takes leadership of his squadron of armored tanks, as well as Independent India, becoming an adult as they both take center stage and step up to prove themselves. As Captain Mehta rises to the challenge and guides his troops and country to success, the historic expedition sets the way for India’s victory.
Pippa: Director & Budget
The movie has been directed by Raja Krishna Menon, who has previously directed films like Chef (2017)& Airlift (2016). As per reports, the standing budget for the movie is somewhere around ₹30-35 crores.
