On Thursday, parts of south Haryana, east Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar saw cold wave conditions, according to the weather service.
According to the report, isolated areas of Haryana and east Uttar Pradesh as well as some sections of north Madhya Pradesh experienced minimum temperatures that ranged from 2 to 5 degrees Celsius.
The majority of locations in the plains of northwest India and the surrounding central and eastern sections of the country recorded maximum temperatures in the 20 to 24 degree Celsius range. From January 15 to January 18, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions were present in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, and northern sections of Madhya Pradesh. “Cold wave abated from most of these locations on January 19 due to the effect of a fresh western disturbance,” the IMD stated in a statement.
The next five days wouldn’t see any cold wave conditions over north India, it stated. According to the IMD, “another powerful western disturbance…is quite likely to strike the plains of northwest India from January 23 to 25 and the western Himalayan region from the night of January 20 to January 26.”
