Boycott Darlings: Here's Why Twitterati Are Angry With Alia Bhatt's Latest Movie

Alia Bhatt’s recently released film, Boycott Darlings has received a lot of flak from Twitter users. In this news piece, we will tell why Twitterati are angry with Alia Bhatt’s film Darlings.

With the dark thriller currently streaming on Netflix, “Darlings,” the talented Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made the transition to production. Red Chillies Entertainment, a production company owned by Shah Rukh Khan, is a co-producer of the movie. Along with Alia, Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, and Vijay Varma are included.

Why Do Twitter Users Want To Boycott Darlings?

Following criticism of “Laal Singh Chaddha” starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, internet users likewise made hashtags critical of Alia’s Darlings. Twitter’s trending topic for the longest was #BoycottDarlings. Yet why? Some people believed that the actress was using the movie to encourage domestic violence against males.

A Twitter handle named MenToo has stated that the film is insensitive towards the domestic violence that certain men often face at the hands of women. The Twitter handle convenes that men are always ignored by society when it comes to violence against them by the opposite gender.

Another Twiiter handle by the name of ‘adot’ has compared Alia Bhatt with Amber Heard (a Hollywood actress who appeared in headlines for defaming her ex-husband)

The major reason why the movie is being criticized (as per the Twitter users) is that it seems to promote violence against men & the movie is also ignorant about the fact that men do actually face violence at the hands of women.

About The Film

In the movie “Darlings,” Alia Bhatt plays Badrunissa, a victim of domestic violence who seeks retribution from her abusive husband Hamza (Vijay Varma). Vijay was referred to as Johnny Depp, and some people even compared her to Amber Heard.

Jasmeet K. Reen’s film “Darlings” tackles the delicate subject of domestic violence. On August 5, 2022, Netflix released the movie, and it received a lot of negative reviews. It appears that Alia Bhatt’s latest experiment has become a subject of controversy.
