At the New York Comic Con, Toei Animation announced that it is actively producing a new Dragon Ball series titled “Dragon Ball Daima.” Unlike recent projects, this series will have Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama deeply involved, providing narrative guidance and character designs.
In “Dragon Ball Daima,” classic Dragon Ball Z characters like Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma will be transformed into children, similar to Goku’s transformation in Dragon Ball GT. The executive producer, Akio Iyoku, described Toriyama’s extensive involvement in the series’ production, stating that Toriyama “has planned entirely new episodes for the storyline.”
While specific plot details are still under wraps, Toei Animation released a trailer that hints at a possible meta approach, with a villain who appears to be aware of Goku’s history throughout various Dragon Ball anime and manga. The trailer showcases impressive animation, and Toriyama’s active participation suggests that “Dragon Ball Daima” may offer a more impactful storyline than GT did. The series is set to premiere in the fall.
